Year 2006

As 2006 comes to an end it's time to reflect back...

  • This year the family vacation was spent in Tahoe. (Now the kids know where they can visit us in about 9 years. That's when DJ turns 18 and we move.)
  • Roy Johnson (Devoted Father of 5 and Husband of Valerie) passed away. Roy will be missed but never forgotten. The legacy of the Gentle Giant will live on forever. Hard working, loving father, avid Gardener, community activist, and just the nicest guy you'll ever meet.
  • We have a daughter in 8th grade...oh my god!
  • We have a 9 year old son who has discovered 8th grade girls aren't so icky!
  • Our house received some home improvement. Inside and Outside!
  • After 38 years my antics finally caught up with me and I busted up my ankle.
  • If I didn't know before (which I did), I have the right girl. Patty has had to put up with my home improvement projects (which always seem to take longer than they should), my endless hours of guitar hero (now guitar hero 2), my all nighters at the bars (oh wait, wrong year), and to top it off she has been my savior since I busted my ankle. You know you have the right girl when she is willing to shower you and help you to the toilet. Not to mention get me coffee in the morning. She is definitely the best of 2006 and I couldn't have made it through the last month without her. Thank you if I haven't said it enough.
The World in 2006...
  • The War in Iraq is still going with no end in sight...the casualties continue to rise
  • New Orleans is still in disrepair.
  • The nations 38th President Gerald Ford passed away.
  • Saddam Hussein was executed.
  • The Democrats take a strong hold in Congress. More due to the fact that most people can't stand the way the current administration is handling the war than what the democrats actual platform is standing for.
  • For the first time ever the Speaker of the House is a Woman! Go Nancy...
And finally...I would like to wish everyone a good finish to the year 2006 and may we all hope that 2007 brings more peace and less poverty to the world.

Happy New Year! Go Bears!

Christmas Eve

It 'twas the night before Christmas and all was quiet...at least until the kids came home.
We have a lot to be thankful for as our photo gallery will show.
We have friends and family who are very dear.
This year we experienced sadness and joy, but love most of all.

Happy Holiday's to our Family and Friends.
May your Christmas be as joyful as ours.

PS --> Send me presents!

Mountain Biking Lake Tahoe - Mt Rose to Kingsbury

A group ride from the MTBR Tahoe Gathering embarked on a epic journey across the Tahoe Rim Trail. The ride took them from Mt Rose to Kingsbury Grade and was about 38 miles long. If you enjoy Mountain Biking and would like to see what riding along the Tahoe Rim Trail is like this ride has a big portion of the trail.

1st Snow of the Year

Nothing like 12" of snow and not being able to play in it. Seriously people, do I need to break my ankle to get a snowstorm like this in Chicago? I've been looking forward to a snowy winter in Chicago for a long time. I hope this is only a hint of what's to come.
